1Suitable items for packaging

Pillow bags
  • Standard figure: the most commonly used
  • Called “pillow bags” as the shape resembles a pillow
  • Sealing: Long hem sealing on the back and top/bottom hem sealings
  • Various packaging designs are available
  • Creases seldom appears on sealed parts
Gusset pillow bags
  • Gussets are on both left and right sides
  • Spacious as the gussets expand the volume
  • Stand-on package can be made if the content is heavy and stable
  • Can be displayed a lot in limited store shelves if the bag shape is vertically long
3-Side Seal bags
  • The top and bottom and either vertical sides are sealed (Sealing does not come in the center)
  • Easy to tear off horizontally (A notch is needed to open without using scissors)
  • Contain a little smaller amount than a pillow bag
  • Design can be printed on the whole film surface of the front and back
4-Side Seal bags
  • All four sides are sealed (Sealing does not come in the center)
  • Easy to tear off horizontally (A notch is needed to open without using scissors)
  • Design can be printed on the whole film surface of the front and back
  • Might look bigger than the same size pillow bag
3-Side Seal bags with Zipper
  • Can open and close repeatedly with a zipper
  • Good for items that is use a little at a time (Note: Once opened, the shelf life gets shorter)
  • A zipper is attached on one sealing side
  • The sealed part looks better than that of 4-side seal bag
4-Side Seal bags with Zipper
  • Can open and close repeatedly with a zipper

  • A zipper is attached on one sealing side
  • Some creases tend to appear on sealed parts, so 4-side seal may look relatively inferior in the appearance
Tape-Banded bags
  • The shape resembles a drawstring pouch
  • Two pillow bags/gusset pillow bags banded with an adhesive tape look big and swollen
  • Draws purchasers’ attention with its voluminous package appearance
  • Used often for these products: sausages, fish paste, vegetables and fruits, frozen food, etc.
Pyramid pouches
  • Tetrahedron-shaped package
  • Individual packaging for beans, pickled plums, and any other small items
  • In most cases, plural pouches are packed in a big outer bag for sale
  • The appearance can be improved with washi*-touch laminated film (*traditional Japanese paper)
